Module Contents

In this lecture, students will learn about the reproductive biologies, anatomical and physiological features of commonly used laboratory animals (rat, mice, Guinea pig and rabbit); caging at international standarts, housing, feeding and breeding methods, importance of standardizing temperature and light; determination of appropriate animal species for studies, injection methods and surgery interventions, premedications and anaesthesia in laboratory animals, autopsy, collection techniques of blood and tissue samples from animals, decapitation of laboratory animals and other euthanasia techniques with theoretical  courses and practical training.

In addition, ethical principals and its applications, the rules to be followed, national and international animal acts, ethical commities and working prencipals at Firat university and ethical regulations to be followed for scientific publications will also be tought. 

Aims and Objectives of the module

In this course, researches will learn housing, feding, breeding and handling of laboratory animals and do basic applicatios on laboratory animals. In addition it is aimed to provide researches with awareness about the ethical on doing experimental studies in medical sciences.
