Module Contents

Reproduction, reproductive physiology and hormones in dogs, examination of female reproductive tract, hormonal mechanism of sexual cycle, determination of proestrus, oestrus, diestrus and anestrus, preparation of smear and/or slides for vaginal cytology, showing of cells seen in the smear, courting, copulation, factors affecting sexual behaviours, the use of hormones for postpone of oestrus in bitches, pregnancy, causes of infertility, examination of male reproductive tract, methods of semen collection, evaluation of semen, ideal time of insemination, methods of artificial insemination in bitches.

Aims and Objectives of the module

To contribute to development of knowledge and skills of PhD students about reproduction, reproductive physiology and hormones in dogs, determination of puberty, proestrus, oestrus, diestrus and anestrus, preparation of smear and/or slides for vaginal cytology, showing of cells seen in the smear, methods of semen collection, evaluation of semen, ideal time of insemination and methods of artificial insemination in bitches.
